Are all the products you sell 100% natural?
No, but we wish they were. The reality is is quiet impossible to make an effective product that is 100% natural for textured hair. For products (e.g. shampoos, conditions, gels, moisturisers) which are not entirely oil-based and where water (Aqua) is included in the formulation, non-agricultural/natural ingredients such as emulsifiers and preservatives are needed in order to make them work properly and prevent molding.
Having said the above, we research every non-natural ingredient listed on a product and assess their toxicological properties and how high they are in the ingredient listing. If we feel a certain ingredient is too toxic or harsh and does more harm than good, we won’t stock the particular product.
We can assure you that products we stock are free from dangerous chemicals such as paraben, SLS, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum that are commonly found in mainstream products for black/textured hair.
If you want 100% natural products, check out Obia Naturals shampoo bars and SimplyMoi organic oils.
I’m non-black and I don’t have Afro-textured hair, but I have medium to thick curly frizzy hair. Can I use any of the products you stock?
Yes you can! We recommend products from the brands, Inahsi Naturals, Curls and Briogeo Curl Charisma range. The products are not too heavy and works well on non-afro textured hair.
My hair is relaxed and I'm not too sure which products is suitable for me.
There is really not much difference is caring for relaxed hair vs natural curly or kinky hair. Shampoos, conditioners, treatments and gels that are marketed towards natural hair can also be used on relaxed hair without an issue. When it comes to styling or leave-in products that are lotions, they tend to slightly crinkle-up relaxed hair. This is due to the fact that the consistency of lotions are very watery. However, you would such products as a primer/base prior to blow-drying your hair.
Can I use products you sell if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
A vast amount of the products we sell contain essential oils that may not be suitable for you if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. You are advised to consult your GP or medical professional for informed advice.
Why are the labels for some Soultanicals products look unprofessional? I also want to know why sometime they come with a seal/inner lid and the next time they don't?
Unfortunately, we have no control over how Soultanicals chooses to print labels. If products arrive with poor quality label, we do our best to reach out to them for replacements. We acknowledge that sometime stock can arrive with inner seal/lid and next time without. However, we can assure you that this has no effect on the quality of the products.
Why is your organic coconut oil not extra virgin?
Simply put, when it comes to coconut oil, the term “extra virgin” is nothing but a myth. It is ploy used to piggybacking on the marketability of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. There are no industry standard or regulations that determines what is Extra Virgin Coconut oil. On the other hand, Virgin Coconut Oil is reflected as such if it is cold-pressed from fresh or mature dried coconut flesh without the use of chemicals or refining agents to extract the oil.
Are your oils pure?
All of our oils are 100% pure, natural and organically grown. They extracted via cold pressed methods and have not undergone any sort of harsh chemical processes, which distorts the quality and performance of any oil. We source oils from suppliers who are accredited with industry-standard certificates and can provide farm traceability of their oils.
