We Chat To Latarra Clarke, London’s Talented Freelance Braider

We are always on the lookout for things that might interest our customers. So when we stumbled upon the flawless work of Latarra Clarke while cruising Instagram, we reached out to her for a quick chat.

Latarra is a freelancer braider from South London who's gradually making a name for herself. She specialises in twists, box braids and various patterns of feed-in cornrows.

Tell us about your braiding background.
I've been braiding for 13 years. My braid journey started at the age of 11. My little cousin was 2 years younger than me and she could braid hair. So for one Christmas, I got a large Barbour dolls head to practice on. I would sit there for hours plaiting the hair and taking it out until I perfected my skills.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Braiding is my passion; it allows my mind to relax. This may sound crazy, but it takes me to a real spiritually positive place. I will continue doing braiding because I enjoy meeting new clients and I am so happy that I can make other people feel good about themselves.

What’s the most popular request you get?
It varies depending on the time of year. Summertime it is definitely feed-in braids, wintertime it is box braids and twists.

How long do customers have to wait to get an appointment?
The average waiting time for an appointment is between 1 - 2 weeks.

Starting price?
From £40 for adults and £25 for children 2 - 13 years.

How can potential customers contact you?
I have a mobile service and I also do braiding at home. Customers can also DM for appointments via my IG page @braids_for_all_textures
